The flight time is only 30 min. and you can then catch the next ferry crossing that departs from Skiathos to Skopelos.

Flights into Skiathos from European Countries

There are no direct flights into Skopelos – which helps maintain the flow of visitors better and keeps the character of the island more in control. Skiathos airport (‘Alexandros Papadiamantis’ – JSI), is our nearest airport.

You can see all European Destinations that offer direct flights into Skiathos from Skiathos airport’s official website. You can find out all departure cities by clicking on the name of your country on the map.

The best way to reach Skiathos port from the airport (distance is 3 km) is by getting a taxi (there is a taxi rank outside the arrivals area).

The ride is only 5 minutes and it costs approx. 6-8 euros.

Getting to Skopelos by Ferry Boats

There are different types of vessels, crossing our seas:

  • Ferry Boats: with a big capacity for both passengers and cars.
  • Catamarans (or ‘Cats’), they usually take only passengers and not cars
  • Hydrofoils (or ‘Flying Dolphins), smaller vessels designed for passengers ony.

It is advised to book your ferry tickets in advance to ensure availability. This is a necessity if you’re taking your own car across.

If you don’t have a car, availability is not usually an issue, even in the heart of the summer. Ferry boats have more flexibility when only passenger tickets are needed.

Seasonal schedules usually update by late April, sometimes early May – therefore it’s sometimes better if book your passenger tickets around this time.
